Tamwood Junior Centres was founded in Whistler in 1992 by Matt Collingwood and Tamsin Plaxton. Combining their experiences of attending and working at international summer programs with their passion for globalization they have created a highly regarded and professionally managed junior summer centre company. Tamwood operates five summer locations and one winter location across North America: Vancouver-Downtown, Vancouver-Simon Fraser University, Whistler, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Boston.
Tamwood is a privately owned company and Matt and Tamsin are still actively involved in the daily summer camp operations to ensure that Tamwood students get the best education and care in the safest possible environment.
At a Tamwood, your child will study improve his or her English skills through 15 hours per week of classroom lessons. Outside the classroom they will be busy making friends from around the world and try exciting activities and adventures. Spending time at a Tamwood centre will also allow your child to grow as an individual, learn valuable life skills, expand their sense of adventure and learn about the world.

Tamwood offers something for everyone. They offer activities like mountain biking, kayaking and canoeing, swimming, soccer, tennis, art, talent shows, scavenger hunts, dance parties, trips to amusement parks, bowling, ice skating, science centers, beaches, baseball games, city shopping and more... Their staff are carefully trained and certified in First Aid while English Instructors hold university degrees and teaching certification. Many of their counselors are teachers and many also have certification to teach activities like biking and kayaking. Their high staff to camper ratio allows for the best experience possible in a safe and welcoming environment. And most importantly, their staff will ensure your child has a great time!

Quiz Bowl Summer Camp 2013


Texas Quiz Bowl will host its fourth annual summer quiz bowl camp from Sunday July 28, 2012 to Saturday August 3, 2012. The location of the Summer Camp will be announced in the coming months. In 2012 74 students came to camp and in 2011 36 students participated and they expect an even larger group in 2013.
The 2013 camp is open to all Texas students who will be entering grades 7 through 12 for the 2012-2013 school year. 128 spots are available. Students will participate in activities from 8:30 a.m. each morning to 8:30 p.m. each night.

These activities will include category-specific classroom instruction, tournament match play in which students will hone their teamwork on bonuses, directed practice in which counselors will work with students on toss-up skills, and discussions on quiz bowl theory and strategy. Camp will offer 10 different courses for high school students to choose from and 2 specifically for middle school students. Each course will include 5 days of instructional complete with instructional materials.

Registration is now open for the 2013 Texas Quiz Bowl Summer Camp. Students may register by filling out this Registration Form.

Student participants will need to submit a health and permission form.

Lake Greeley Camp is a private, coed, overnight, summer camp located in the Pocono Mountains of Northeast Pennsylvania. Accredited by the American Camp Association, Lake Greeley Camp is owned and operated by the Buynak Family, who have provided campers fun-filled, safe summer experiences for over 50 years.

Whether a first-time, an experienced day or overnight camper, with their mature, caring staff, exciting trips, special events, great evening activities and daily program, your child is guaranteed a Summer Camp experience they will draw upon and remember.

Some special features:
1. Lake Greeley Camp specializes in creating a positive camp experience for first-time campers!
2. Lake Greeley Camp accommodates boys and girls ages 6-15 and has a limited enrollment of 275 campers. We offer many variations of 2, 4, 6 and 8-week sessions to fit any kind of summer schedule. In addition, we have custom sessions that can tailor to your specific scheduling needs.
3. Our campsite is located on a private 250-acre estate in Greeley, Pennsylvania. We're about 85 miles from New York City and 140 miles from Philadelphia.
4. Our daily program is made up of over 60 different daily activities!
Campers entering the 5th grade and older participate in an elective program in which they choose their activities each day. Junior campers, children entering the 4th grade and younger, participate in a cabin-structured program under the direct supervision of a cabin counselor.
5. Our evening activities and special events are awesome. We feature a different evening activity each night and have daily themes, trivia and competitions galore! It really is non-stop fun!
6. Lake Greeley Camp features a mature and nurturing staff with over 35 experienced adult staff members and 85 college-aged counselors selected by our full-time directors.
7. More than anything else, Lake Greeley Camp is a summer camp about fun. We make fun our number one priority every summer!
